  • Walter U. Lum - APIA Biography Project In 1913, he and his colleagues fought to stop a bill that sought to deprive Chinese Americans the right to vote. The Chinese Six Companies selected him to be camp manager, interpreter and coordinator for activities related to Chinese refugees. Walter fought for many Chinese American rights and helped the Chinese American community in unlimited.

  • It’s a curious title, The First Chinese American: The Remarkable Life of Wong Chin Foo. Wong, the subject of Seligman’s biography wasn’t literally the first Chinese American – there were other Chinese before him who also became naturalized U.S. citizens.


  • The eleventh anniversary of the APIA (Asian Pacific Islander American) Biography Project highlights distinguished APIA singers, past and present, local and international, engaged in social justice through their actions and/or lyrics in the music industry.
